#MusicMonday: Polkadot Cadaver - Last Call In Jonestown

What more could I ask for? A Band I like has written a song about a subject that piqued my interest -- Jonestown.

Jonestown wasn't what initially got my interest, but it just so happed to be the destination of my question. My original inquiry was about the origin of the phrase "drinking the Kool-Aid", which if you didn't know is a reference to over 900 Americans killing themselves with a poisoned fruit drink in the South American country of Guyana.

Now, I could go on and just regurgitate "fun facts" from the Jonestown Wikipedia entry and a PBS documentary (which I'll post below), but I'll let you get as lost as you want in the subject. It's a wild and tragic tale my friends.

Ohmori Masatoshi Rides Motorcycles Very Well [Video]

I may not be an expert on all, or even some, things motorcycle related but I know when something looks like it should be possible and when it shouldn't. It seems like Ohmori Masatoshi doesn't care about what I think might be possible and goes about his daily routine of ruling on his motorcycle -- like a boss.

Drifting, sliding, grinding, and owning. The Honey Badger doesn't give a shit because he took lessons from Ohmori Masatoshi.

Swiss Army Keyring Hack

Keys are total chaos. Little chunks of oddly shaped metal free to do what they will on a circular piece of metal which every person has an urge to put dumb chachkies onto. It's madness. Do not fret though because with some tools and knowledge, or a friend with tools and knowledge, there is a better way.

What if you had a swiss army style knife which instead of housing what the Swiss need to fight their numerous enemies, but all your essential keys housed in a locked down and organized way. The Neistat Brothers, who I guess have or had a show on HBO, give a quick and dirty overview of how your swiss army keyring is hacked together.

I would like to do this myself, but the landlord would be pissed over me mutilating all my keys and making all those copies would be kinda spendy. Oh well, it's still cool as hell.

The Footnotes Of The PS4 'Meeting' [Video]

If you happened to miss the Sony Playstation meeting press conference thing yesterday and are dreading the slog through all the stuff you heard is boring, irrelevant, and pie in the sky hype talk have no worries because Matt Lees from VideoGamerTV reduces the BS to pure facts.

On a personal note if Sony pulls off half the shit they laid out yesterday on the PS4 it will be a miracle and the console will be amaze-balls. That's coming from a guy who still thinks the PS3 is too expensive.

#MusicTuesday - KIRI KIRI KIRI - TAKYON (DEATH GRIPS COVER)

The Finnish YouTuber Finowa has posted a cover of  the the song Takyon by the band Death Grips under the banner of his group Kiri Kiri Kiri. Now I am no rap aficionado, just look at all the #MusicMonday posts to verify that, but every once in awhile the stars align and I get into a 'rap' track -- if you can still call this track rap after Kiri Kiri Kiri got done with it. What do I know! Enjoy!

To get more Kiri Kiri Kiri check out their Facebook page, and to see Finowa cover songs on his guitar/drums/bass/vocal chords/whatever else he plays check out his You Tube page.

These Guys Let Their Former Roommate Know That Everything's Better Now [Video]

I can certainly imagine that if you opt for the roommate route when striking out on your own there may be a chance that you will not be 100% compatible with everyone. That's what the guys from 'BoiZone' found out.

After one member (citizen?) of the BoiZone left the remaining BoiZonians found that everything seemed to be better. The boys decided to grab a camera, channel the spirit of Dennis Leary (which is tricky because he's still alive, I think -- yup!), and let the former roomie as well as the world know what's up.

While their YouTube channel only has one video I'm going sub and hope there's more on the way.

*takes comically extreme drag on a cigarette and lets out an equally comical exhale*

OKAY?!

#MusicMonday - Total Fucking Destruction

Hold onto your hats and prepare your anus to bleed rainbows because Total Fucking Destruction has put out a video for their song 'Monsters'. The video seems to be made up of monster movie, live performance, and skate video footage cut by a person being electrocuted.

If you really dig the song you can pick up their new two song 'Monsters EP' off of Bandcamp for totally fucking free! That's my favorite price point!

Coke Syrup Races Are A Thing

If you are totally confused at the title of this post I can relate. It was about a year ago that I heard the term 'Coke syrup race' and could not understand how the words worked together, but in time I learned and wished these races happened closer to me.

All the races I've read up on have been inside big buildings with concrete floors and if you have driven on concrete you know it can be slick without warning. So how do you take a slick surface like that and make it race ready? From the name I assume you take the syrup for Coke that fountain machines use and put a layer of it on the floor.

You can see the difference between the non-syrup floor and the glistening layer of syrup in the below photo from the 'A Day of Thunder on Syrup' Facebook page.

Now that you know what this is all about how about some racing? Let's go on board with YouTube user Mordirt as we take a ride on a racing lawn mower.

Okay, that was four wheels. How about we join FTW Co. and taste the insanity of two wheels in their coverage of 'Battle at the Barn IV'.

Looks like too much fun to be legal. Be sure to look up if your area has any races like this and go -- for me.

Watch A Fiat Tackle A Go Kart Track [Video]

Fiat is back state side and has been making a big play at the small car market with it's Fiat 500. To say this car is compact is to win the understatement of the year award, but just how compact could it be?

As you are about to see the Fiat 500 Abarth is about to run, pretty quick, on a go kart track designed for vehicles much smaller than it is.

Now as you can see the 500 Abarth had room to spare on most of the track only to get caught in a tight turn. If you watch that last turn again the driver clearly takes the turn too sharp and if given another chance to take it a little wider they would have nailed it.

If you are wondering why the Fiat was on the track in the first place it's a matter of charity. Be sure to check the Jalopnik link below for details!

Man Gets Double Fine Logo Tattoo [Video]

Video game tattoos are becoming a pretty common thing nowadays as people fondly remember days gone by and want to literally wear their memories on their sleeve. Many people choose to get tattoos of older video game characters and such, but sometimes you love a design at first sight.

The Double Fine Action Microblog has featured a video of a man getting a tattoo of the skeletonized version of their two headed baby logo. The logo was made to compliment the new Double Fine game 'The Cave' that hasn't even been out for a week.

Roll that beautiful tattoo footage!

Did I forget to mention that Neil Clark gave the tattoo to himself? That has to be a bit tricky. Getting a tattoo while giving a tattoo. The piece came out great and is cute in a weird way, but also fucking brutal!

I would also like to point out that you see at the end of the video for a second that he was wearing a Left 4 Dead 2 'Midnight Riders' tee shirt while doing the tattoo. I think Neil likes video games.

Be sure to check out artist Neil Clark's website.

#MusicMonday - 3 Inches Of Blood

3 Inches Of Blood usually don't make my head turn. They have an interesting old school sound, but I'm not really one for the old school. The only reason I gave the video for 'Metal Woman' a look is I remembered that former Strapping Young Lad and Fear Factory bassist Byron Stroud had joined the band and I wanted to check out the bass work.

Well, now I'm certainly glad I did!

iPod Nano Held On Wrist With Magnet Implants

I've wanted an iPod Nano for awhile just because it can be the watch of the future today. I've never been able to justify the cost though so I don't have one, but if I did you can bet I'd have a watch strap in a hot second.

This guy must hate watch straps, or just love dermal implants. Either way this isn't a great way to address either of those issues. Whatever man, at least there's a video of the dude doing it himself!

Achievement Hunter Annoys A Preacher In Skyrim

Gavin and Geoff from Achievement Hunter (Gavin is also from The Slow Mo Guys) go into the giant world of Skyrim. Not to fight dragons, do side quests, or anything else a normal person would do, but to hassle a preacher. Why? Because it's funny.

Freddie Wong, A Zipline, And Skateboards

On the second behind the scenes channel of You Tube star Freddie Wong we all get a fascinating peek into what office life is like when you work with Freddie and his crew.

This video highlights that the office has a unique feature -- a zipline. What started as a demonstration quickly devolved into jackassery with skateboards a Master Chief helmet.

Mortal Kombat Tryouts

Did you know that the kombatants in Mortal Kombat had to tryout? Yes, indeed! That's to make sure you have the most brutal fighter there is that won't let you down. It's a little known fact that current and former gaming icons tryout every year only to be turned down.

Here is the footage from those tryouts.

Ride Along An Abandoned Japanese Highway

If you want to get my attention the word 'abandoned' will often time do the trick. There's just something about man made structures left to the will of time and nature to decay that just fascinates me.

Abandoned houses, buildings, and towns are all over the place, but abandoned highways are something I haven't seen too many of. Let alone travel it via a helmet cam.

#MusicMonday - Disfiguring The Goddess

Disfiguring The Goddess, the one man band made up of Cameron Argon aka Big Chocolate, has just put out a music video for his song 'Mountain' off the new DTG album 'Sleeper'.

Metal Sucks has called the video "[...] the best music video of 2012 so far. No sarcasm. No irony.". I don't know if I buy that, but it is damn good.

Motion Activated Ammunition Dispenser

There are a lot of products that are meant for one purpose but can be used for many other purposes. It's all a matter of figuring out how to use a product in your own unique way. Speaking of a unique use for a product here is an ammo dispenser activated by motion:

Of course the machine wasn't made for dispensing ammo, but was marketed as a candy dispenser instead. That was until the blogger North got his hands on it. He gets a 9 out of 10 for imagination, but I hope something doesn't jam up and unload a round.

Reuters Learns First Is Not Best

Getting the first coverage is important in today's new media. When you are first with a juicy story you become the source linked to which gets you hits which would get you ad money, you get links which helps with Google rankings, and it just feels great -- sometimes.

The established and well respected international news agency out of the UK Reuters just learned there is such a thing as too early with their coverage of the May Day Occupy activities in New York.

Here is Majority Report's Sam Seder on the Reuters piece:

In my opinion the problem with that piece is solely with the headline. If they had commented on what they saw when they saw it like for example 'Occupy Return Starts Slow' or 'Occupy Return Slow To Come Back' it would have been less of a issue. Of course Reuters had to turn heads with a whiz bang headline pronouncing the Occupy activities a 'dud' which came back to bite them.

I'd link to the Reuters video, but at the time of writing the ad for the video plays and then skips to the next video. Not looking good Reuters.

You can see more Sam Seder on the Majority Report You Tube channel or at Majority.FM.
