Discolor Tyre Tells You When You Need New Rubber

How many times have you seen an improvement on an existing product and thought to yourself "How have we been using this product up until now without this improvement?". It may be twice as shocking if the improvement is a major safety upgrade. Well, we may be looking at one of those improvements now.

Tires wear out. That is a fact, but what if that inevitability actually let you know what kind of shape your tires are in? What if the tire let you know that it needed to go live on a farm upstate with your old dog Mr. Plugs? Yanko Design posted a concept that does just that.

The concept is that tires could be made with a thin layer of brightly colored material so that when the normal material wears down it exposes it giving you a warning that you need new tires. It's so simple it's brilliant.

At this stage it is a concept from people who don't make tires. It'll probably take time to reach the desk of someone that does and, after all the testing need to make sure they can be safely made -- it could take awhile.

I'd say it's better than using coins, but that's just me.
